Julie René de Cotret is a francophone born in Montreal. Her practices include visual arts, independent curation and writing. She received her BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, in 2004 and Masters in Visual Studies from the University of Toronto in 2018. She has exhibited and curated internationally: Canada, US, Sweden, Greece, Switzerland, Germany.
She is a co-founder of the artist residency program at the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph, ON, Canada (2009-present). She was a member of Ed Video's Media Arts Centre Board of Directors, 2006-2014 and is currently on the board of the Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario.
